I was woken to the euphony of sound of the birds. I took my cup of tea and went to sit in the balcony with Robie William singing
"I don't wanna die, I ain't keen on living either " in the background.
I went to the bedroom and picked up "The Big Red Book" and lowered the volume of the song, and started flipping through the pages.
My mobile beeped
"Do you even sleep lover boy?"
"A little" I replied.
She texted again "Hehe.. you and your insomnia!".
And without wasting a second I quoted Rumi "When I am with you, we stay up all night.
When you're not here, I can't go to sleep.
Praise God for those two insomnias!
And the difference between them."
"Gosh! you are sweet" she replied.
"But you are sweeter my sugar pie..and by the way that was Rumi." I texted back.
And we were silent for a minute.
And I texted again "Can we catch up?"
She said "I am not sure. I have a lot to do"
I asked "Tomorrow?"
She said "Look truth be told, I feel little odd after all these confessions of yours. Will you be fine?"
And again I quoted Rumi
"I want to see you.
Know your voice.
Recognize you when you
first come 'round the corner.
Sense your scent when I come
into a room you've just left.
Know the lift of your heel,
the glide of your foot.
Become familiar with the way
you purse your lips
then let them part,
just the slightest bit,
when I lean in to your space
and kiss you.
I want to know the joy
of how you whisper more"
She instantly replied "Looks like you are having Rumi for breakfast"
"Can I have some "sugar" for lunch tomorrow?" I asked.
"Sure thing." She replied.
And there we were sitting across the table.
She was all smiling and blushing and were discussing some random shit.
And suddenly the music in the background changed and the song was "Tujhko Jo Paya..", I smiled and we talked some more while she ruffled her hairs and my eye fell on the mole on the back of her neck and I controlled the urge to kiss it.
So I asked "This is your favourite song. Right?"
She blushed "I don't remember telling you this"
"I remember it like yesterday" I replied.
And she blushed some more.
She said "How do you do that?"
I asked " Do what?"
"Can love someone so much" she retorted.
I replied " Does the sun promise to shine. No, but it will, even behind the darkest cloud it will. And no promise can make it shine longer or brighter. For that is its fate, to burn until it can burn no more. So, likewise its not my promise it's my fate."
And we went to parking and talked some more till the sun went west.
